Conservation Heating is a technique that has been is use in museums for numerous years to control the relative humidity in a areas where dehumidifiers are not suitable. The idea is that when the relative humidity goes above a pre-set level, for example 60%rh, a heater is turned on, when the humidity falls as a result the heater is turned off. If the temperature ever gets too low or too high (5°C or 21°C for example), then the heater is automatically turned on or off regardless of the humidity This means that there is no risk of damage due to high temperatures and frost protection is ensured. This method of control is perfect for where a minimum background temperature is required or where a dehumidifier is not practical.
